Convergence of Polynomially Bounded Semigroups of Matrices
It is proved that for polynomially bounded sets of matrices the notions of pointwise convergence and uniform convergence coincide. This result is also proved for certain sets of nonlinear maps on finite-dimensional real or complex vector spaces.
متن کاملCycles and 1-unconditional matrices
We characterize the 1-unconditional subsets (erc)(r,c)∈I of the set of elementary matrices in the Schatten-von-Neumann class S. The set of couples I must be the set of edges of a bipartite graph without cycles of even length 4 6 l 6 p if p is an even integer, and without cycles at all if p is a positive real number that is not an even integer. In the latter case, I is even a Varopoulos set of V...
متن کاملA brief introduction to quaternion matrices and linear algebra and on bounded groups of quaternion matrices
The division algebra of real quaternions, as the only noncommutative normed division real algebra up to isomorphism of normed algebras, is of great importance. In this note, first we present a brief introduction to quaternion matrices and quaternion linear algebra. This, among other things, will help us present the counterpart of a theorem of Herman Auerbach in the setting of quaternions. More ...
متن کاملUnconditional Convergence in Banach Spaces
Introduction. This note investigates an apparent generalization of unconditionally convergent series ^ x » in weakly complete Banach spaces. A series of elements with Xi in E is said to be unconditionally convergent if for every variation of sign €j= ± 1 , ^TMeiXi is convergent. This formulation of the definition of unconditional convergence is equivalent to that given by Orliczjé]. We call ^Xi...
متن کاملConcerning Hausdorff Matrices and Absolutely Convergent Sequences1
for£}=0, 1,2,.... This paper is concerned with the determination of those generalized Hausdorff matrices which sum all absolutely convergent sequences. Theorem 2 gives a sufficiency condition stated in terms of the behavior of the points of continuity of the graph of g and Theorems 3 and 4 provide examples which serve to further describe functions which generate such matrices. Theorem 5 gives a...
